| ANNUAL GYNECOLOGIC EXAMS... |
|
| are an important part of healthcare for women. These yearly visits allow screening for
diseases processes, as well as continued health maintenance. The parts of a yearly exam vary based on a women’s
age, but all include breast and pelvic exams, as well as a Pap test. Your healthcare provider will ask questions about
personal and family health history; gynecologic history; sexual habits; medications; allergies; use of tobacco, alcohol
and drugs; and exercise. Additional testing may be recommended including screening for sexually transmitted disease,
breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, thyroid disease and elevated cholesterol. Immunizations, or vaccines, should also
be reviewed and updated if necessary. An annual exam is a good time to ask questions or discuss issues of concern with
your healthcare provider. |
